Rook & Root
Rook & Root is a sheltered chess table on a little tile, tucked under a tiled roof with a sign that gives the table its name. The pieces are oversized, the checkerboard is neatly laid out and nobody has ever been asked to hurry a move.
Rook is the thoughtful knight of the house. Rook has studied every opening and holds one firm opinion: a good game starts with putting the kettle on first.
Pull up a stool, take the first move and let the afternoon do the rest. It is a warm, unhurried place to play, think and pass the next turn to a friend.
