When does this domain expire?
Type a domain to see when it expires, counted down in days, and what happens if nobody renews it. Then get an email before it does.

Your countdown shows up here, with the name’s state and what happens after the expiry date.
What happens when a domain expires
- Grace period: for up to about 45 days the owner can usually still renew at the normal price, though the website and email may stop working.
- Redemption: for about 30 more days the owner can still get it back, but restoring it costs much more.
- Pending delete: about 5 days when nobody can renew it.
- Released: anyone can register it again.
Typical windows for endings like .com, .net and .org. Your registrar’s rules may differ.
What we keep
Only a daily count of how many checks ran and how they ended. Not the name you typed, not your address, no cookies. To answer, the name is sent to the registry for its ending (and sometimes to its registrar), and the answer is kept on our server for up to an hour so a second check is instant.
Questions people ask
Can I still renew after the expiry date?
Usually yes. Most registrars allow a renewal at the normal price for a while after expiry, then a costly restore during redemption. After pending delete the name is released and anyone can register it.
Why does the registry show a date a year ahead?
Many registries renew automatically on the expiry day and wait for the registrar to confirm. Until then the registry’s date may show next year even if the name is about to lapse, so check with the registrar too.
How do the reminders work?
Sign in, keep the name on your shelf and we email you 60, 30, 7 and 1 day before it expires. You can change the days or switch the emails off at any time.
Is the checker free?
Yes, and there’s nothing to sign up for to check a name. The reminders need a free account so we know where to send them.
