Domain ending

.biz domains: price and rules

.biz is a generic ending for business use that its registry says anyone can register, wherever they live. Here is what it costs at the registrars we checked and the rules that come with it.

The rules

Registry

Registry Services, LLC, the manager IANA lists for .biz in its root zone database.

RDAP lookups

Yes. IANA’s RDAP list has a server for .biz, so its records can be read in a standard way, which is how this site and the shelf find expiry dates.

Who can register

Anyone. The registry says anyone can register a .biz domain, regardless of their location or country of residence, first come, first served, with no special eligibility requirements.

HTTPS rule

No. .biz as a whole is not on the Chromium HSTS preload list, so browsers do not force HTTPS for every .biz name. An individual domain can still be preloaded or send its own HSTS header.

Accents and other scripts

Yes. The registry has lodged 15 language and script entries in IANA’s IDN repository, for example German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, so names with accents and other scripts can be registered within those tables. Your registrar may offer fewer.

If it expires

ICANN’s typical gTLD lifecycle: after the expiry date there is an auto-renew grace period of 0 to 45 days when you can still renew, then a 30-day redemption grace period when the name can be restored, then 5 days of pending delete, after which the name is released for anyone to register. Your registrar’s own rules may differ.

What .biz costs

Lowest renewal we checked: $19.05 a year at Porkbun, on 2026-10-25.

Prices in USD for one year, per registrar, with the date each was checked
Registrar First year Renewal Transfer 3 years Checked
Porkbun — $19.05 — —

USD, before tax, as each registrar published it on the date shown; the date links to the page we read. Three years is the first year plus two renewals. A dash means nobody has checked that price yet. Registrars run offers and charge more for premium names, so confirm the price at the registrar before you buy. We don’t sell domains and these links are not affiliate links.

Facts and prices on this page were checked between 2026-10-25 and 2026-10-27.

Common uses of .biz

  • Small businesses, startups, entrepreneurs and consultants, which the registry suggests as its natural users.
  • Service providers, online stores and established companies that want a business-focused name, including when the .com they want is taken.

What we keep

Nothing. These pages take no input, set no cookies and count nothing about you. Prices and facts are read by hand and by a monthly job from public registrar and registry pages, and every one shows where and when we checked it.
